On Oct 28, 2008, the TSA published the Final Rule for the new Secure Flight passenger-screening program. Secure Flight will match name, date of birth and gender information for each passenger against government watch lists to: -Identify known and suspected terrorists -Prevent individuals on the "No Fly List" from boarding an aircraft -Identify individuals on the Selectee List for enhanced screening -Facilitate passenger air travel -Protect individuals' privacy Effective May 15, 2009 - For all domestic flights we are required to request Full Name, as it appears on the government-issued ID the passenger intends to present at the airport prior to boarding. This is to include Middle names if it is on the ID Effective August 15, 2009 - For all domestic flights in addition to the Name requirement we will also need DOB and Gender in the record. Effective Oct 31, 2009 - For all international flights all the information above, plus any other TSA requirements. We will keep our clients abreast of any changes the TSA may give us. The name has always been important, but in the past 1 or 2 letters did not matter much. We would call the airlines and they would note it in the record . With these "no exception" rules, if the name is incorrect, the ticket will have no value, as no name changes can be done. We are here to help our clients make their travel experience run as smoothly as possible. Please let us know if you any questions or concerns. |
